CLASS DETAILS / INFO

LESSONS - There will be a lesson each month, taught by either Kirsten or Tyler, and some of them will be co-taught. You can find an overview of the lessons in the “Start Here" section in Teachable or the “Class Details” section of this webpage. If you’re not able to attend a lesson while it’s live, you can always watch a recording of the lesson afterwards.

ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS - Roundtables are an opportunity to talk about the progress you’re making each month on your stories. You’ll be able to share you photos you’ve taken, talk about your challenges and successes and receive feedback and guidance on what your next steps are. The amount of people signed up for the workshop is a smaller group than we originally planned for, which is great for you guys because it means everyone will get a chance to participate in one roundtable each month. (This is a change from the workshop description where it said everyone would be able to participate in only two roundtables during the entire 6 months.) There will be two roundtable dates to choose from each month in order to accommodate everyone’s time-zone - one in the morning US time and one in the late afternoon US time. You’re welcome to attend both, but will only share about your project in one. The Roundtables will also be recorded so you can watch them later to follow along with your classmates stories.

CRITIQUES - The critiques are where you’ll share your finished projects. There will be three critiques, one for each story. The first one will be in the beginning of June, the second one will be in the end of July/beginning of August, and the third one will take place at the end of the course. Critiques will also be broken into two dates to accommodate everyone’s time-zones. Just like the roundtables, you can attend both but will only participate in one. They’ll also be recorded and available to watch afterwards.

1:1’s - 1:1’s are a time to meet individually with Kirsten and Tyler to basically talk about whatever might be helpful for you to get extra support on. You can share photos to get more in-depth review, talk about personal challenges that you might not want to share during a roundtable or the direction you’re taking as as photographer. Anything at all. Everyone will have 4 thirty-minute 1:1’s, two with Tyler and two with Kirsten. We’ll be sending out a link with availability each month that you can use to sign up for your 1:1’s whenever you’re ready.

TEACHABLE - Teachable is the platform which will host all the class content - assignments, recordings of your classes and any other content that Kirsten and Tyler share. After each class We’ll upload the recordings to Teachable as soon as we can.

UPLOAD LINKS - We’ll be sending out individual upload links for each of the roundtables and critiques. It’s super easy to just drag and drop your photos into the upload webpage. The most important thing is please, please zip your photos into a folder that is labeled with your name, and label your individual photos with your name as well. Sometimes the upload program duplicates photos if they are sent individually which is time-consuming to sort through.

CLASS WEBPAGE - The class webpage (you’re looking at it) will be updated regularly with all the info you’ll need for the month - a calendar, the upload links, zoom links and class dates. We’ll send this info in weekly emails as well, but if you’re ever looking for a link or date you can always find that info on the webpage.

FACEBOOK GROUP - The Facebook group is a place to connect and support each other outside of class meetings. We may sometimes post updates in the Facebook group, but if we do we’ll always send an email out as well.

SCHEDULE - Starting in June we’re going to do our best to stick to a regular schedule that you can plan around. We’ll be choosing dates partially around the preferences that you all give when you fill out your questionnaires. Depending on a few things that we’re still working out, some classes may take place on the weekend and the late-afternoon classes (US time) will take place during the week. Because of unpredictable travel schedules we may need to adjust the dates occasionally, but we’ll do our best to confirm the dates as far in advance as we can.
