WHAT TO EXPECT?
This program is going to be jam packed with a great deal of information, I’m basically trying to stuff ALL the things I know about photography, business and life at this very moment into 2 full days of continuous learning. I want everyone to be fully present, come with as many questions as you might have and be proactive in regards to engagement with me throughout the 2 days. I am an open book. I will share anything and everything I know and believe while also acknowledging that these are only my perspectives, my experiences, my bias. In each section there will be formal classroom content, an active small group activity and open Q&A. Because of the nature of this program I will be working really hard to stay on task, on time. If there are still lingering questions following the close of the program, you will be invited to 2 open Zoom calls following THE LAST CALL to follow up. I will be excited to hear from you all months after learning together to see how you will be implementing what you learned.
This is going to be incredibly content heavy, driven by keynote presentations, and one of the main reasons why I will be recording each of these sections. PLEASE NOTE: I will most likely make this program available for purchase in a passive learning environment in 2025. IF you do not feel comfortable being on camera at any point, please let me know PRIOR to filming so that I can make note of that when it is being edited. I will most likely have you wear an identifier so my editors can ensure your anonymity and privacy.
Our venue is GORGEOUS and I am really excited about it. There will be a full functioning kitchen. I will be providing coffee, tea and other non-alcoholic beverages throughout the program as well as plenty of snacks. You are also welcome to bring your own food/beverages to have available to you throughout the 2 days.
You will be on your own for lunch. I will offer the option to have a lunch option ordered and delivered to the workshop for those that would prefer to just stay put and continue conversations over some take out. Once we get closer to the event I will put out some options for you.
I am still in the process of securing special guests to join me in hosting conversations. Many of them will most likely be past students that I have worked with over long periods of time to share their own experiences and feedback with all of you. I will continue to update this page as more decide to sign on!
WHAT TO BRING:
A notebook and pens. I will be providing SO MUCH information, you may find yourself sparked with ideas, questions, important tips, etc. I want you to have a vessel that contains all of that response in one place. You will also be guided through some exercises that require you to write things down.
A sweater/sweatshirt/layers . . . . . I want you to be comfortable. I have no way of predicting the temperature level of the space however I will share that I tend to run on the cooler side so it’ll most likely be warmer throughout the day. That being said, having layers available allows you to adjust to the environment for what feels best to YOU!
A camera is not necessary for the 2 day workshop however you MAY want to make pictures throughout the experience.
A computer is also not necessary however you may prefer to keep notes on it, so if that is the case you may want to make sure that you include your laptop in your bag.
An open mind and heart. As I have evolved over the last 2 years especially, my teaching has become a lot more intense and can be a bit emotional at times. If you are TRULY coming to grow as a photographer, you will have to be open to confronting yourself and your blocks as a human being. I do not believe there is a separation between the photographer and the maker, there is constant overlap between the two. If you are not willing to open your mind to this concept, please let me know and we can discuss if this experience is truly going to be right for you.
A sense of humor. While I am incredibly passionate about everything I teach, am 100% committed to making you a stronger photographer and am already logging endless hours into building this content. . . . I will make a lot of jokes. I plan to fill the space with a lot of laughter. I am known for using the word FUCK, or variations of that, a bit. Sometime, I make inappropriate jokes. Often, I will balance really hard discussions with intentional levity.
Tissues/Kleenex. I basically did not cry for 30 years. I taught myself when I was 14 to shut it off after I continued to hear that my emotional instability was having a negative impact the people I loved the most. I learned how to neglect, ignore, feel immense shame for my feelings. This was probably one of the most damaging trauma adaptations I developed in my childhood. I have spent the last 2 years doing very deep, intense, painful self work/trauma healing/PTSD confrontation. As a result I cry. I cry a lot. I basically cry all the time. I do not shy away from conflict or uncomfortable, triggering moments. I am sharing this because I want to prepare you for some of the vulnerability that you will experience working with me this time around. With this, you too may find yourself feeling a lot. I will absolutely create a very safe space to support and nurture all of that. That may result in tears, which I believe is the most beautiful act of self love one can give oneself.
PLEASE NOTE: Sensitive, vulnerable moments and stories shared WILL NOT be included in any recordings made available in the future. You will have a contract to sign upon arrival and it will state this, as a promise FROM ME legally, that I will not share anything publicly that is meant to only remain within our group.
WHERE TO STAY?
I have done a little bit of research of the surrounding area. Below are some properties that are within a 1 mile radius of the location of the workshop!
WHO ELSE IS COMING???
I could not be more excited to invite other creatives/photographers FAR more wise and talented than myself to raise the bar of THE LAST CALL. I am still working on my special guests that will join me in conversation on various topics, be a part of the judging panel and offer additional learning opportunities outside of our 2 days of dedicated workshopping.
I currently have 1 guest confirmed and she is simply BRILLIANT!
In the next few weeks I will be announcing the final line up as well as opening up registration for the optional ADD-ON In Person classes.
Click on the photo above to submit up to 5 pictures to our open photography competition that will be judged during THE LAST CALL.
