WELCOME!
You are one of only 3 people who is going to have the opportunity to work with me, in the field, in Denver this year. Not only that, the valuable feedback you are going to receive is going to be unlike ANYTHING I have ever been able to offer, nor anything you have ever experienced before. While I have had SOME of this technology for a few years, the newest gear is a COMPLETE game changer and I only know of one other instructor in the industry offering this kind of opportunity. Below are some of the details to better help you prepare for our time together on October 14th!
The Details, Once Again
WHERE:
We will meet at my home in Boulder but will be photographing out in the field most of the day.
WHEN:
Monday October 14th 9am-6pm
Additional Online Commitment Monday November 11th 10am MT
DETAILS:
This is a ground breaking unique experience that Kirsten has never made available before. Using brand new technology, a student will be photographing with an earpiece and transmitter attached to their camera. Meanwhile, Kirsten will be able to see exactly what you are shooting through your camera: your composition, your ISO, your aperture, your shutter speed. All of your settings. She will be guiding you through a shoot from afar, somewhere out of the way in the same room/space/proximity. Additionally, the other students will be able to watch along during this process.
Each student will receive mentoring in the field.
We will then break, deliberate and review your pictures.
You will be asked to photograph a similar situation on your own, at home.
We will meet as a group and review your photographs virtually.
You will receive the recordings of all the IN THE FIELD experiences, image reviews and the Zoom meeting.
WHAT GEAR DO I NEED?
You will need a mirrorless camera.
IF you do not currently own one NO
worries. I will have one that you can
borrow and we can set it up in a way
that the custom controls are familiar
to you and easy to adapt to. You will
also want a laptop, card reader and HD.
DO I NEED TO SECURE SUBJECTS?
Nope! I am going to take care of
all of the planning regarding the
day of the workshop. The subject matter
will be dependent of availability, proximity
and access but I can promise that we
will be working on storytelling.
WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL WE BE USING?
Well, for now I am actually not sharing that
information. I KNOW that eventually the photography
industry at large will adapt these style of field
training but I am choosing to keep that information
as private as possible for now just to keep this
particular experience super unique and special for
my students I get to work with in 2024!
WHAT WILL WE BE DOING VIRTUALLY?
We will be meeting about a month after
our time together to look as some work you’ve
made during and since Denver. We will talk
about breakthroughs as well as continued obstacles
and how to continue to push forward to strengthen
your photographic executions, decision making,
storytelling and most importantly confidence and voice.
WHAT CAN I DO TO MENTALLY PREPARE?
Well, I will be honest. This might end up being a little
more intense than other experiences you may have had
in the past. The WORST thing you can do is to panic, to
collapse. While the idea of people watching you work
can be seemingly nerve wracking, the truth is that it’s
a chance in a lifetime to be able to have someone IN
YOUR EYES helping you to possibly see a bit differently.
Mindset is the most important thing I think. Continue to
remind yourself that this is the best gift you can give
yourself to take one step closer towards your goals.
DO I HAVE TO SHOOT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE?
The short answer is no. You do not HAVE to do anything.
Thank being said, the entire point of this being a group
experience is not only to learn from one another but
to support one another along the way. You will be focused
on making pictures. We will hopefully be outside of your
line of sight so you will forget they are even there. You will
here my voice, but that is the extent of our presence.
LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING
WITH YOU IN OCTOBER!
If you have ANY more questions between now and then PLEASE do not hesitate to reach out at any time.
Molly and Kristen are both eager to assist you on the back end in preparation for our time together.
Balances will be due the week before the workshop and you will receive a reminder.
See you soon!
